Kudos to these guys. I've done my fair share of engine work (on the 2.7TT no less) and let me tell you, the last thing you feel like doing when you are neck deep in parts and grime is staging photos, let alone making a movie. Taking to the time in the video to do the stop-motion thing with the engine hoist was a nice touch that most people probably didn't notice.

That was awesome to watch.
I always try to take pics of when I'm working on my cars, but I usually forget about it half way through. That was major dedication.

Haha, I wonder how much longer it took because of that. but in any case work on the 2.7 is never fast...

Totally. I had my fair share of 2.7 fun. Even though it was a pain in the ass, I miss my B5 S4 everyday.

super cool video but pulling the valve covers and turbos isn't really an " Engine Rebuild "

I didn't have too much experience with VW stuff prior than doing the timing chain tensioner gaskets on my similar Audi A6. Mine is the 2.8L Avant Quattro. Unlike this job, I had to go just a little further having to remover the cams also. I started in the morning and finished up close to midnight working on off and trying to get around having to use some special alignment and holding special tools. Next time (if I keep this car) I shouldn't take so long but unfortunately, it will happen again way too soon and having a good running C5 Avant Quattro isn't too much of a thrill to motivate you to do all that work lol. That was all work done outside on a rough driveway in wet and humid weather.

Very cool. If you like this sort of thing (and Star Wars, and LEGO):

Learn me sumthin. I'm not familiar with these, so besides making it look pretty, what was the purpose of this project?

I had an A6 with this motor. Loved that car especially on the highway. I drove it pretty hard and always did the maintenance but blew a turbo and the TC at about 98k miles.
I miss that car every time I take a road trip more than 60 miles.

Valve cover gaskets (love to leak), he also upgraded the turbos, disappointing he didnt go with bigger downpipes since the motor was out. He also serviced the transmission as well as other annoying to reach sensors, and pumps. Working on the motor is a pain cause of how tight everything is. He probably could have done it without pulling the motor but would have still had to pull the radiator support to do the timing belt.

audis are plagued by oil leaks and crappy plastic coolent piping, I do everything he did (except turbos) without pulling the engine nearly everyday. while he was in there he should have replaced all the front suspension, after working on porsche and audi for 15 years I'm still in disbelief people think German cars are better, the only thing better is the driving/handling other than that I say you need to have your audi in the shop once a month. so many customers let maintenance and service go so long that at some point its cheaper to buy a new car rather than try and catch up

Should take half the time of a 5.4, right?
